The Pula Arena is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world and the largest ancient monument in Croatia. Built in the 1st century AD during Emperor Vespasian’s reign, it could accommodate over 20,000 spectators. It was originally used for gladiator fights, which were a popular form of entertainment in Roman times.

Today, the amphitheater hosts concerts, film festivals, and cultural events, including the famous Pula Film Festival. It is also home to an underground museum that showcases ancient olive oil and winemaking traditions. A mix of pebble and concrete, Valkane is a favorite for both locals and visitors. It has a wheelchair-accessible area, making it one of the most inclusive beaches in Pula. You’ll also find tennis courts and sports facilities nearby.

Pula is surrounded with seven hills, so as Rome :).
About little and cosy Istrian towns, I will give you some suggestions when you will be here. Istria is also called Little Toscana,  therefore the scenery  and the inner parts of Istria are definitiv worth to  visiting:
Homemade food, cured meats- prosciutto , wine 🥂🍷and olive🫒oil, great seafood🦐🐟🦀, are only a small part of our rich gourmet speciality..
On the summer time happened a lot of concerts in Arena.

Located near Kaštel, this Small Roman Theatre was built in the 1st century AD and could accommodate around 5,000 spectators. As in most cases when you rent an Apartment, the normal is to have 1 or 2 paper rolls and after that normally it's on you. If it is an urgent matter I can give you another roll of paper no problem. But that is how it usually works.

The Arch of the Sergii, known as Zlatna Vrata, is a well-preserved Roman triumphal arch built in the 1st century BC. It was erected by the Sergii family to commemorate their victory in battle. The arch features intricate reliefs and is one of the finest examples of Roman architecture in Pula. Often called the smallest town in the world, Hum has only about 20 residents but is rich in history and legend. Walk along its ancient stone walls and visit the Church of St. Jerome, known for its Glagolitic inscriptions. The town is the center of the Glagolitic Alley, a unique cultural monument celebrating the ancient Slavic script. Don't leave without tasting biska, a traditional mistletoe brandy made here for centuries. Hum’s quiet charm makes it a perfect escape into Istrian history.

Nestled along the Lungomare promenade, this small bay is surrounded by Mediterranean greenery. The calm and clear sea makes it a great spot for swimming and relaxing.

Gortanova Cove Beach

The Temple of Augustus is one of the best-preserved Roman temples outside of Italy, dedicated to the first Roman emperor, Augustus. Built between 2 BC and AD 14, it stands on Piazza Foro, the ancient Roman forum of Pula. The temple once formed part of a larger complex, but today, it houses a small museum displaying Roman sculptures and artifacts.

Verudela/PULA

This tiny, picturesque village is known as “Istrian Hollywood” because many movies have been filmed here. Perched on a hill, it offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The Church of St. Roch and Church of St. Elisha are home to well-preserved medieval frescoes. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time, with its stone houses and peaceful atmosphere. Draguć is perfect for those seeking a tranquil and authentic Istrian experience scription.

There is also a very nice bar, Safari bar (all in bamboo) and a bunch of beaches below. It is a natural park so it's full of beaches, whichever you chose, you won't regret. Just keep in mind that you pay entrance, I think it is 80kn per day. 


RT Kamenjak/PREMANTURA

This museum showcases Istria’s rich history from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. Its collection includes ancient pottery, jewelry, mosaics, and stone inscriptions from Roman times. Archaeological Museum of Istria

A postcard-perfect town with its iconic St. Euphemia’s Church, which offers breathtaking views from the bell tower. The Kaštel, a Venetian fortress from the 17th century, sits atop a hill in the city center. Known for the Euphrasian Basilica, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with dazzling mosaics. Walk along Decumanus Street, the town’s main historic thoroughfare, and visit Marafor Square, the site of ancient Roman temples. A short drive away, the Baredine Cave offers a glimpse into Istria’s underground beauty. Relax by the sea at Zelena Laguna, a scenic beach resort area.

Poreč 

The most visited public aquarium in Croatia whose mission is to show the beauty and diversity of the underwater world and emphasize the need for its protection. The aquarium itself is settled in a 130 year old fort Verudela, part of the once mighty Austro – Hungarian defense complex Fortress Pula , where the centennial military history of Pula is combined in a unique way with the richness of the Adriatic. Fort Verudela, named after the peninsula where it was built (3 km from the center of Pula), has been in a process of conversion into an aquarium since 2002. and is now home to some 200 animal species. Sharks, jellyfish and seahorses are the most sought after inhabitants, with the Marine turtle rescue center, our biggest contribution to marine conservation, as something not to be missed. The fort’s roof, besides offering a magnificent view of Pula and the sea, from 2017. displays a massive steel dome placed over the old artillery block. The dome represents the final stage of our project where we reconstructed the central part of the fort and added 3 new tanks (50 000 liters each), greatly expanding our display.
